This week kindergarten is studying perspective and shadow. Since the cold weather doesn't seem to want to go away, we made adorable aerial snowmen using chalk pastel, watercolor resist and construction paper.
1st graders are completing Monet self-portrait landscapes. After studying Monet and his years painting at his garden in Giverny, they created their own landscapes, using watercolor and acrylic paint. Monet's famous Japanese bridge was added, along with a self-portrait.
4th grade is also working on a landscape. Using tissue paper collage in either warm or cool colors, they created a snowy landscape with birch trees. We discussed shadow and value with the placement of the birch trees.
